Conservative Party leader David Cameron became the British prime minister after agreeing to form a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats. Cameron and the Tories joined with Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats after Clegg began negotiating with Labour Party leaders about ruling through a minority coalition.
